Assistant Pastor

Rev. Rick Rhen-Sosbe was born in Kokomo Indiana and moved to Florida in 1990 to attend college. Upon graduation from college Rev. Rick was ordained in the Assemblies of God where he served as Associate Pastor/Minister of Music and then Senior Pastor.

Once coming to terms with his sexuality and realizing that being gay was how God created him, Rev. Rick left the Assemblies of God and discovered Metropolitan Community Churches. He remembers his first time attending an MCC and said he felt he had finally “come home.”

He fulfilled the MCC requirements for ordination transfer under the supervision of Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson and served with her as Associate Pastor in Sarasota. His ordination transfer to MCC occurred in January 2004.

Rev. Rick has served as Interim Pastor, Associate Pastor and Senior Pastor in MCC churches in Louisiana, Georgia and Florida. He and his husband Michael have been together since December 2007. They have two dogs, Millie and Gracie! Both Rev. Rick and Michael are excited to have this opportunity to serve at SunCoast MCC and look forward to establishing new relationships and rekindling existing ones with the congregation at SunCoast!  

Rev. Rick currently serves as Assistant Pastor of SunCoast Cathedral MCC, in Venice, Florida.
